BCRA Museum showcases football coins, World Cup commemoratives
The Central Bank Museum is hosting an exhibition of commemorative coins celebrating Argentina's passion for football. It features pieces issued by the BCRA for World Cups and numismatic tributes from other countries.

The exhibition, titled 'Minting a dream: the Argentine world champion team,' offers a chronological and thematic journey through numismatic pieces reflecting Argentina's deep passion for soccer.
Set in an environment designed to recreate a stadium, the display traces the history of commemorative coins issued by the Central Bank for various FIFA World Cup editions.
These include pieces for Argentina 1978, Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014, Russia 2018, Qatar 2022, and an additional coin for 2026.
Beyond the BCRA's own issues, the exhibition also features numismatic pieces from different countries that pay homage to the achievements and trajectory of the Argentine National Team, including specimens minted in precious metals.
This collection highlights the global recognition of Argentina's football legacy and the enduring connection between national identity and sporting success, as captured through the art of coinage.

Visitors are invited to enjoy a unique and immersive experience from the moment they enter.
The exhibition's entrance recreates the tunnel leading to a football field, setting an authentic stadium atmosphere.
Inside, showcases displaying numismatic pieces are arranged to mimic players on a match field.
The experience is further enhanced with engaging videos and animations, some created using artificial intelligence, providing dynamic context.
At the tour's conclusion, a dedicated selfie point allows visitors to capture memories next to a replica of the World Cup trophy.
The exhibition is located in the ground floor hall of the Central Bank Museum, at San Martín 216, Buenos Aires, open Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
