Seven scholarships fund postgraduate study abroad in 2026

Seven scholarships for postgraduate study abroad are open to recent graduates under a Bank of Italy call published on October 14, 2026. Applications close at noon on November 20, 2026.

Three tracks for advanced study

The Bank of Italy offers seven scholarships for study at prestigious universities abroad.

Three Bonaldo Stringher scholarships cover political economy and economic policy.

Two Giorgio Mortara scholarships cover financial economics, econometrics and mathematical, statistical or computational methods applied to economics and finance.

Examples include artificial intelligence, machine learning, fintech and cybersecurity.

Two Donato Menichella scholarships focus on the interplay between economic growth and the legal framework, regulation's impact on economic activity, legal issues relating to digital assets and the application of artificial intelligence to economics.

Applicants must choose a study programme consistent with their selected scholarship's subject area.

Recent degrees and top grades

Eligibility is limited to candidates who obtained a Master's degree or single-cycle degree from an Italian university within the last two years.

The qualifying degree must be in law, economics or a STEM discipline, with a final grade of at least 110/110. The call targets outstanding recent graduates intending to pursue further studies abroad in the fields covered by the scholarships.

Candidates may submit applications through the Bank of Italy website until 12:00 noon on November 20, 2026.

Eligibility sets the boundary

The call links funding to both academic results and the proposed field of study.

Its two-year graduation window limits access to recent graduates.

Applicants must meet the degree requirements and match their programme to one of the three scholarship tracks.
