National wealth rises 2.2 percent to 24,561 trillion won

South Korea's national wealth increased by 531 trillion won to reach 24,561 trillion won at the end of 2025, according to preliminary Bank of Korea data. Non-financial assets accounted for 23,291 trillion won of the total.

Land and housing drive non-financial growth

The national wealth of Korea increased by 2.2 percent year-on-year to 24,561 trillion won at the end of 2025, according to preliminary Bank of Korea figures.

Non-financial assets rose 3.8 percent to 23,291 trillion won, led by a 4.6 percent increase in non-produced assets to 12,718 trillion won.

Land values alone climbed to 12,660 trillion won.

Produced assets grew 2.9 percent to 10,573 trillion won, supported by construction assets at 7,664 trillion won, facilities assets at 1,457 trillion won, and intellectual property products at 822 trillion won.

Net financial assets stood at 1,271 trillion won, with financial assets reaching 27,318 trillion won against liabilities of 26,048 trillion won.

Sector shifts alter wealth distribution

Households and non-profit institutions serving households remained the largest sector, accounting for 14,200 trillion won or 57.8 percent of total net worth after a 9.0 percent increase.

The general government sector expanded 6.2 percent to 6,194 trillion won, representing 25.2 percent of national wealth.

Meanwhile, non-financial corporations saw their net worth contract 21.6 percent to 3,657 trillion won, lowering their share to 14.9 percent.

Financial corporations held 510 trillion won, making up 2.1 percent of the total economy's net worth.

Land values mask corporate contraction

The preliminary balance sheet highlights a heavy reliance on land appreciation while corporate net worth takes a sharp hit.

This divergence raises questions about the underlying quality of capital accumulation in the Korean economy.

Policymakers will need to watch how falling corporate wealth impacts broader investment trends.
