Bank of Russia issues 2026 souvenir coin set

On 16 June 2026, the Bank of Russia will issue a numismatic set of coins in souvenir packaging. The set includes various denominations from 1-copeck to 10-ruble coins.

From copecks to rubles: The new set

The 2026 numismatic set includes coins from 1-copeck to 10-ruble denominations, minted in brilliant uncirculated quality.

Copeck coins (1, 5, 10, 50) are cupronickel or brass plated steel, while ruble coins (1, 2, 5, 10) are nickel or brass plated steel.

Diameters range from 15.5 mm (1-copeck) to 25.0 mm (5-ruble).

Edges are smooth for copecks, corrugated for 1-ruble, and intermittently corrugated for 2-, 5-, and 10-ruble coins.

The obverse of copeck coins features Saint George the Victorious, while ruble coins display the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation, both with the year '2026' and the Saint Petersburg mint mark.

The 10-ruble coin includes a security element with a hidden '10' and 'RUB' visible at various viewing angles.

Legal tender, limited mintage

With a limited mintage of 35.0 thousand sets, these numismatic coins are designed for collectors while retaining full legal tender status.

The Bank of Russia emphasizes that all coins in the souvenir set are mandatory for acceptance across the Russian Federation for all types of payments at their face value, without any restrictions.

This ensures their functional utility alongside their collectible appeal.

The issuance on 16 June 2026 underscores the central bank's role in maintaining the integrity and circulation of national currency, even in specialized collectible formats.

Collectible, yet functional

This annual issuance highlights the Bank of Russia's commitment to numismatic tradition and the cultural representation embedded in its currency.

While primarily aimed at collectors, the emphasis on legal tender status reinforces the intrinsic value and broad acceptance of these coins.

Such releases serve to connect the public with the national currency in a tangible, aesthetically pleasing manner beyond daily transactions.
