Single data portal to centralise official statistics by 2030
The Bank of Russia has approved development guidelines through 2030 to overhaul access to its statistical data. The regulator will launch a unified Data Portal featuring automated API integration and standardised indicator descriptions.
One-stop access via automated portal
The Bank of Russia has approved development guidelines for its statistical activities through 2030, establishing a unified approach to public information delivery.
Under the strategic roadmap, users will no longer navigate dispersed files and distinct website sections to locate economic measurements.
Instead, a dedicated Bank of Russia Data Portal will function as a centralised one-stop shop for businesses, individuals, researchers, and government authorities.
All statistical series will become accessible via an Application Programming Interface (API), supported by a structured category tree and smart search capabilities designed to streamline data retrieval.
Harmonised metrics for cross-border comparison
Alongside technological upgrades, the central bank is introducing uniform rules for defining and cataloguing all published indicators.
Standardised metadata will clarify calculation methodologies, documenting precisely how each statistical metric is compiled.
According to the approved guidelines, this structural transparency is intended to remove analytical friction, facilitating cross-disciplinary research while simplifying comparisons between Russian indicators and international economic datasets.
Modern architecture meets transparency limits
Building an API-enabled portal represents overdue technical housekeeping rather than a genuine breakthrough.
While automated access aids researchers, user convenience cannot offset ongoing macroeconomic data restrictions.
An upgraded delivery mechanism remains cosmetic if the breadth of underlying reporting stays constrained.
