Anonymised ruble interest rate swap data published weekly
The Bank of Russia has started publishing anonymised weekly data on over-the-counter ruble interest rate swaps to improve market transparency. The initial release covers transactions from January to September 2026.
Weekly updates from trade repository
The Bank of Russia has commenced the regular publication of anonymised statistics covering over-the-counter derivative contracts, focusing initially on ruble interest rate swaps.
The statistical release covers transaction activity from 1 January to 11 September 2026.
These aggregated figures are compiled directly from data submitted by market participants through the National Settlement Depository repository framework.
The central bank confirmed that the dataset will be updated on its website every Tuesday, subject to a standard reporting lag of seven calendar days.
The publication aims to enhance transparency across domestic over-the-counter financial markets.
Broader derivative disclosures ahead
Looking ahead, the regulator plans to expand the scope of published statistics across additional categories of over-the-counter derivative transactions.
The Bank of Russia noted that broader access to granular transaction metrics is designed to help market participants develop more accurate forecasting models.
Furthermore, having structured visibility into trading volumes and pricing dynamics will enable institutions to manage their financial risks more efficiently across varying market conditions.
A modest start for OTC transparency
Publishing depository data improves transparency in an opaque segment of the market.
Yet limiting initial disclosures to interest rate swaps leaves other derivative segments unaddressed.
Tangible analytical value will depend entirely on how rapidly the central bank expands reporting.
