Russian regional prices slow or decline in August

While seasonal fruit and vegetable price reductions were notable, the decline was slightly smaller than historical patterns for August.
Meanwhile, prices for cheese and dairy products continued to move downward.
In the non-food segment, price growth slowed in two-thirds of regions compared to July.
The pace of motor fuel price increases decelerated considerably across the country.
Conversely, the summer depreciation of the ruble exerted upward pressure on imported and tech goods, lifting prices for personal communication devices, consumer electronics, and computers across regional markets.
Services retreat while healthcare costs stay high
Prices for consumer services decreased across a majority of Russian regions in August.
Domestic tourism and passenger transportation services sustained an ongoing downward trajectory after previous seasonal peaks.
Meanwhile, price increases for personal care and healthcare services moderated slightly relative to prior months.
However, the Bank of Russia noted that growth rates in these service categories remained elevated despite the marginal slowdown.
Seasonal relief masks stubborn pressures
The regional cooling reflects seasonal harvest dynamics rather than broad disinflation.
