Three new silver coins join Red Data Book series

The 2-ruble silver coins are minted in proof quality by the Saint Petersburg Mint with a fine metal content of 15.55 grams, a fineness of 925, and a diameter of 33.0 millimeters.

Each piece features a corrugated edge and a relief rim along both sides.

The obverse depicts the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation alongside standard technical inscriptions and state markers.

On the reverse, each coin showcases a relief colored image of a featured species: a Caucasian wildcat standing on rocks, a male spectacled eider on ground near water, or a toad-headed agama on sand.

Background elements for all three designs utilize specialized laser treatment for a refined matte finish, emphasizing the protected fauna imagery.

The Bank of Russia established the Red Data Book coin series in 1992 to highlight nationally protected flora and fauna across the country.

Including this latest issue, the long-running collection now comprises 82 distinct coin designs.

All three new pieces carry full legal tender status within the Russian Federation, making them mandatory for acceptance at face value for all payment types.

However, given their limited mintage of 5,000 pieces per design, these specialized coins will primarily serve collectors and numismatic markets rather than everyday circulation.
