Bank of Russia issues 3-ruble Raven Kutkh coin

The Bank of Russia will issue a new 3-ruble silver coin on 15 June 2026, featuring the fairy-tale Raven Kutkh. Part of the 'Legends and Folktales of Russia' series, this coin serves as legal tender across the Russian Federation.

A Mythical Journey in Silver

On 15 June 2026, the Bank of Russia will issue a new 3-ruble silver coin, part of the 'Legends and Folktales of Russia' series, dedicated to the fairy-tale Raven Kutkh.

The coin's obverse features the relief National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation, alongside inscriptions 'РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ' (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), 'БАНК РОССИИ' (BANK OF RUSSIA), '3 РУБЛЯ' (3 RUBLES), and '2026 г.' (2026).

This side also specifies the metal's chemical symbol, fineness, the Saint Petersburg Mint trademark, and fine metal content.

The reverse side depicts Raven Kutkh riding a sledge, harnessed by a humpback salmon, against a laser-treated matte landscape of a mountain and forest.

A vibrant, color-image sun with light interference effect completes the design.

Inscriptions 'ЛЕГЕНДЫ И СКАЗКИ НАРОДОВ РОССИИ' (LEGENDS AND FOLKTALES OF RUSSIA) and 'ВОРОН КУТХ' (RAVEN KUTKH) encircle the reverse.

Minted in proof quality with a corrugated edge, this new coin is legal tender of the Russian Federation, mandatory for acceptance for all payments at its face value without restrictions.

Cultural Narratives in Numismatics

The 'Legends and Folktales of Russia' series aims to preserve and popularize the nation's diverse oral traditions.

Raven Kutkh, a revered mythological figure from Far Eastern and Siberian cultures, embodies creation and wisdom, making it a culturally significant choice.

This issuance highlights the Bank of Russia's commitment to celebrating indigenous heritage through numismatic art. Struck in silver, the coin's proof quality guarantees intricate detail and a pristine, mirror-like finish, appealing to collectors.

With a limited mintage of 5.0 thousand pieces, its scarcity enhances collectible value.

The Saint Petersburg Mint trademark confirms authentic craftsmanship, merging cultural narratives with precise technical execution.

Artistry Meets Collectibility

This coin masterfully blends cultural storytelling with numismatic artistry, offering a tangible piece of Russian heritage.

While legal tender, its limited mintage and collectible nature make its practical use symbolic, yet it effectively serves as a miniature canvas for national identity.

For collectors, it represents a unique fusion of folklore and craftsmanship, enriching portfolios with both aesthetic and cultural value.
