Coin Week opens over 20,000 collection points across Russia
Coin Week runs across Russia from October 26 to November 7, 2026, the Bank of Russia said. Individuals can exchange idle coins for banknotes without a fee at participating banks and stores.
From coins to banknotes
More than 20,000 collection points across the country are accepting idle coins during Coin Week, which runs from October 26 to November 7, 2026.
Participating banks and stores offer individuals a fee-free exchange of coins for banknotes.
People taking coins to a participating bank also have the option of crediting an equivalent amount to their accounts.
The campaign therefore offers both a cash exchange and an account-credit option, with the latter available through banks.
Individuals can check the campaign website for participating locations and their terms before choosing where to bring their coins.
270 million coins recirculated
Coin Week has taken place across all Russian regions since 2023.
Over the campaign's history, more than 270 million coins worth nearly ₽1.2 billion have returned to circulation.
These figures cover the campaign to date, rather than collections during the newly opened 2026 event.
The Bank of Russia directs participants to the campaign website for addresses and exchange terms at participating banks and stores.
Idle cash returns to use
The campaign brings unused coins back into circulation through voluntary exchange.
Fee-free conversion lets holders replace coins with banknotes without an exchange charge.
Account credit offers bank visitors an alternative to keeping the value in cash.
