Two-week repo rate raised by 25 basis points to 4.00 percent
The Czech National Bank (CNB) raised its two-week repo rate by 25 basis points to 4.00 percent. The discount rate rises to 3.00 percent and the Lombard rate to 5.00 percent, effective November 6, 2026.
Three rates rise together
The CNB Bank Board increased the two-week repo rate from 3.75 percent to 4.00 percent at its November 5, 2026 meeting.
The increase amounts to 0.25 percentage point, or 25 basis points.
The Board also raised the discount rate by the same amount to 3.00 percent and the Lombard rate to 5.00 percent.
All three new interest rate levels take effect on November 6, 2026, the day after the meeting.
The announcement covers the rate changes and their effective date but gives no economic rationale for the increases.
It does not report a voting breakdown or identify any dissenting Board members, and it contains no guidance on subsequent rate decisions.
Michl to face journalists
Governor Aleš Michl will attend a press conference for accredited journalists at 3 p.m. on November 5 in the Congress Centre, room MP614, at 30 Senovážné Square, Prague 1. Journalists must confirm attendance by 2:30 p.m. that day, either through media@cnb.cz or by telephone at +420 736 538 759. Jakub Holas, Director of the CNB Communications Division, signed the release.
The announcement provides these arrangements alongside the Bank Board's rate decision.
Rates rise, reasoning absent
The release establishes higher rates across all three instruments from November 6. It leaves the economic reasoning and the Board's voting positions unstated.
The announcement therefore documents the decision, not the policy outlook.
