Key repo rate held at 3.75 percent

The Czech National Bank Bank Board has kept interest rates unchanged at its monetary policy meeting on September 17, 2026. The two-week repo rate remains at 3.75 percent.

Three rates frozen in Prague

The Czech National Bank (CNB) Bank Board decided at its meeting to maintain the benchmark two-week repo rate at 3.75 percent.

Alongside the key rate, the discount rate remains unchanged at 2.75 percent, while the Lombard rate stays at 4.75 percent.

The decision leaves all three administered policy rates at their previous levels without immediate adjustment.

Governor Aleš Michl presents the detailed rationale behind the monetary policy stance during a scheduled press conference at the CNB Congress Centre in Prague.

The central bank communicated the rate hold through an official release issued by Jakub Holas, Director of the CNB Communications Division.

Corridor unchanged across the board

The announcement confirms monetary policy stability across the central bank's operational liquidity framework.

The interest rate corridor between the discount rate of 2.75 percent and the Lombard rate of 4.75 percent remains steady around the 3.75 percent policy benchmark.

Accredited media representatives were required to confirm their attendance ahead of the briefing with Governor Aleš Michl at the central bank's Prague headquarters.

Holding pattern pending clarity

The rate hold maintains steady policy conditions, but the sparse announcement offers no analytical substance.

Shifting all justification to the press briefing creates avoidable short-term ambiguity for analysts.

Market clarity will ultimately hinge on the verbal guidance delivered by the Governor.
