Danish households' fund investments hit record kr. 717 billion

Danish households' investments in domestic investment funds reached a record kr. 717 billion at the end of May 2026. This surge was primarily driven by strong equity returns of approximately kr. 60 billion.

Equity gains propel household wealth

Danish households' investments in domestic investment funds reached an unprecedented kr.

717 billion at the end of May 2026, marking the highest level ever recorded.

This significant increase during April and May was largely propelled by robust equity returns, which contributed approximately kr.

60 billion.

Equity funds alone account for nearly half of households' total wealth held within Danish investment funds, underscoring their prominent role in private investment portfolios.

These figures cover Danish funds regulated under the Danish Investment Associations etc. Act.

Shifting preferences: funds over direct securities

Since 2025, Danish households have increasingly purchased units in both domestic and foreign investment funds, while simultaneously selling individual shares and bonds.

As of May 2026, holdings included kr.

143 billion in foreign investment funds, kr.

213 billion in foreign individual shares and bonds, and kr.

483 billion in other Danish securities.

This highlights a clear shift in household investment preferences towards collective investment schemes.
