FCA strengthens leadership with two senior appointments
The Financial Conduct Authority has announced the appointment of Chris Knight as Director of Insurance and David Lymburn as interim Deputy Managing Director for the Payment Systems Regulator. These new leaders will strengthen the FCA's capabilities in key areas.
Chris Knight to lead insurance supervision
Chris Knight will join the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in July 2026 as Director of Insurance within its Supervision, Policy and Competition (SPC) division.
He brings significant experience from Legal & General, where he served as group chief risk officer for five years and previously as CEO of Legal & General Retail Retirement for three years.
FCA Deputy Chief Executive Sarah Pritchard welcomed Knight, stating his experience will be 'vital in driving forward our strategic priorities – strengthening our capabilities, accelerating our journey to become a smarter regulator, and ensuring we continue to support economic growth and improve lives across the UK.

Payment systems leadership bolstered
David Lymburn joined the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) on February 23, 2026, as interim Deputy Managing Director.
Lymburn brings over 15 years of financial services experience, including roles as chief operating officer and global payments programme director at Nordea Bank, alongside payments positions at Royal Bank of Scotland and Lloyds Banking Group.
He will serve in this interim capacity during the permanent recruitment process.
