Former Verus customers can now check compensation eligibility

Former Verus Financial Services Limited customers can check whether they qualify for compensation through the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). Claims are open, but eligibility depends on individual assessment.

Claims open under investigation

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is supporting the FSCS as it investigates Verus Financial Services Limited and assesses individual compensation claims.

The FSCS protects customers of authorised financial services firms that have failed.

Former customers can check eligibility on its website or call 0800 678 1100. Verus provided independent investment, pension, mortgage, equity release and insurance advice.

Since 2025, the firm has had no permission to conduct any regulated financial services activity in the UK, including financial advice.

It also cannot sell, transfer or reduce its assets without FCA approval.

Compensation remains subject to the FSCS assessment; opening claims does not guarantee payment.

Ombudsman files can transfer

Customers with complaints already referred to the Financial Ombudsman Service will receive information from it about next steps.

They must still submit an FSCS claim, but need not provide evidence if the ombudsman transfers their file.

Customers can contact the ombudsman on 0800 023 4567 or at www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The FCA advises care when claims management companies or law firms offer recovery assistance.

It says most Verus clients will gain no benefit from involving a third party in their claim.

Recovery offers warrant scrutiny

The FCA warns customers to remain alert to fraud, including recovery room scams.

Fraudsters sometimes impersonate legitimate firms authorised by the regulator.

Customers receiving an unexpected call from someone claiming to represent Verus are advised to end it immediately.
