Global investors debate AI and Asia's investment opportunities
More than 20 leading global investors discussed Asian investment opportunities, alternative assets and AI at Hong Kong's Global Financial Leaders' Investment Summit 2026. The closing forum brought together more than 300 overseas and local leaders.
Portfolio tools meet expanding horizons
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and Hong Kong Academy of Finance (AoF) jointly organised the closing forum.
Discussions covered asset and wealth management, alternative investments, Asia's expanding investment horizons and artificial intelligence in portfolio management and risk assessment.
The three-day summit attracted over 300 participants, including more than 100 group chairmen and chief executive officers from leading financial institutions.
Participants represented banks, securities firms, asset owners, asset managers, private equity and venture capital firms, hedge funds and insurers.
The forum also included leaders from the commercial and public sectors.
Hong Kong makes its case
The fifth summit concluded on November 4, 2026, under the theme “Rethinking the Playbook.”
Eddie Yue, HKMA Chief Executive and AoF Chairman, described it as a platform for global financial dialogue supporting Hong Kong's international financial centre role.
SFC Chairman Kelvin Wong stressed market quality, resilience, robust governance and investor opportunities.
Paul Chan, Hong Kong's Financial Secretary and AoF Honorary President, delivered the keynote speech at the closing forum, titled Conversations with Global Investors.
Dialogue rather than decisions
The summit paired investment discussions with officials' case for Hong Kong as a financial centre.
The release reports no policy decisions or specific investment commitments.
Its substance is the exchange of views, not a change in market rules.
