Fifth investment summit draws 280 global financial leaders

About 280 global financial leaders, including around 120 group chairpersons and CEOs, attended the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's (HKMA) 2026 investment summit. Discussions covered macroeconomic trends, market changes and technological advances.

Rethinking the financial playbook

The main session concluded on November 3, 2026, under the theme “Rethinking the Playbook.”

State Council Vice Premier He Lifeng delivered an opening keynote by video.

Panels explored opportunities and risks across sectors, asset classes and geographies, asking whether persistent risk requires changes to financial strategies.

Participants represented banks, securities firms, asset owners, asset managers, private equity and venture capital firms, hedge funds and insurers.

HKMA Chief Executive Eddie Yue said the fifth consecutive summit fostered dialogue and deeper global financial ties.

He described Hong Kong's efforts to transform its economy through innovation and technology while strengthening its position as an international financial centre.

Three days of financial dialogue

The summit began with a welcome dinner at The Henderson on November 2 and ends on November 4 with the Conversations with Global Investors forum.

The HKMA, Securities and Futures Commission and Hong Kong Academy of Finance jointly organise the closing forum.

Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John Lee delivered a keynote at the summit, while Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government, delivered remarks.

Yue gave welcome remarks.

The main session was also live-streamed, and a replay is available on the HKMA website.

Dialogue rather than decisions

The summit centres on financial-sector dialogue and Hong Kong's role as an international financial centre.

The release reports discussion topics rather than policy decisions or investment commitments.

Its stated focus is resilience amid persistent risk and technological change.
