HKMA foreign currency reserves decline to US$427.9 billion

This marks a decrease from US$429.4 billion reported at the end of November 2025.

The HKMA confirmed that there were no unsettled foreign exchange contracts at the end of either December or November 2025.

Significant coverage for local currency

The current level of foreign currency reserve assets, at US$427.9 billion, provides substantial coverage for the Hong Kong dollar.

It represents over five times the currency in circulation and approximately 38 percent of Hong Kong dollar M3, indicating a robust financial position.
