Gold bonds mature at ₹14,425 per unit on October 23

Holders of Sovereign Gold Bond 2018-19 Series-II will receive ₹14,425 per unit at final redemption on October 23, 2026. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the redemption price on October 22, 2026.

Eight years to repayment

The RBI set the final redemption price for Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) 2018-19 Series-II at ₹14,425 per unit.

The tranche was issued on October 23, 2018, and reaches final redemption on October 23, 2026.

Under Government of India notification F.No.4(22)-B(W&M)/2018, dated October 8, 2018, the bonds are repayable eight years after issuance.

The October 22 announcement therefore specifies the amount payable per unit when this tranche reaches maturity under the scheme's terms.

Ajit Prasad, Deputy General Manager for Communications, signed press release 2026-2027/1369. The specified price applies to the final redemption of this series.

Three gold prices determine repayment

The redemption formula uses the simple average of closing prices for gold of 999 purity over the three business days preceding redemption.

The reference prices come from the India Bullion and Jewellers Association Ltd (IBJA).

For the October 23, 2026 maturity, the RBI used closing prices from October 19, October 21 and October 22, 2026.

Their simple average establishes the ₹14,425 redemption price per SGB unit, linking the final repayment amount to the specified gold-price benchmark.

Maturity fixes the payout

The announcement fixes the per-unit repayment amount for holders of this maturing tranche.

The amount follows the scheme's three-business-day gold-price formula.

It concerns final redemption after eight years, rather than a change to the pricing rule.
