Inflation Expectations Survey of Households launched

The Reserve Bank of India has launched the July 2026 round of its Inflation Expectations Survey of Households. The survey collects subjective assessments on price movements and inflation from households across 19 cities.

Capturing price perceptions

The survey aims to gather subjective assessments from households regarding price movements and inflation.

These assessments are based on their individual consumption baskets.

The survey covers 19 cities across India, including major metropolitan areas like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata, as well as other significant regional centers such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, and Hyderabad.

Participants provide qualitative responses on anticipated price changes for general prices and specific product groups over both a three-month and a one-year horizon.

Additionally, quantitative responses are collected for current, three-month-ahead, and one-year-ahead inflation rates.

The insights derived from this comprehensive survey serve as valuable inputs for the Reserve Bank of India's monetary policy formulation.
