Anti-money laundering efforts target reporting and coordination

Coordination and suspicious transaction reporting anchor the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic's (BCRA) prevention work. Its activities cover money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing.

Reporting quality meets supervisory scrutiny

The BCRA held meetings with financial institutions during 2026 on supervision and the quality of Suspicious Transaction Reports.

It also established working groups with the Financial Intelligence Unit and representatives of the financial system.

Inter-institutional meetings assessed emerging threats and ways to strengthen preventive capabilities against illicit financial flows.

The BCRA said these activities strengthened coordination and information sharing among participants in the prevention system.

The forums reviewed challenges and deepened understanding of risks, supporting the response to money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing.

Cross-border risks demand joint work

Marking the International Day for the Prevention of Money Laundering, the BCRA reaffirmed its commitment to prevention.

It described the challenges facing the system as increasingly complex, dynamic and transnational, requiring comprehensive and coordinated responses.

The central bank said it will continue promoting cooperation and joint work to improve the effectiveness of prevention, consolidate a culture of compliance and safeguard the integrity of the financial system.

Cooperation remains the central commitment

The BCRA places coordination and reporting quality at the center of its prevention work.

It reports meetings and working groups, but gives no quantitative measures of their results.

Its stated next step is continued cooperation to strengthen compliance and financial integrity.
