Redesigned Institutional Report 2025 boosts Banco de España transparency

The Banco de España has published its redesigned Institutional Report 2025, a key tool for public accountability. This new edition features a significant transformation in design, language, and editorial approach to clearly explain the central bank's role and societal relevance.

Strategic shift for public engagement

The Institutional Report 2025 is a core component of the Banco de España's Strategic Plan 2030, aiming to bring the institution closer to citizens and enhance accountability.

As an independent body, the central bank is committed to greater transparency.

The report is structured into three citizen-oriented chapters, includes an executive summary for broader audiences, and features a presentation by Governor José Luis Escrivá and an interview with Deputy Governor Soledad Núñez.

The first chapter details the Banco de España's key actions in 2025, including safeguarding banking system solvency and price stability as a Eurosystem member.

It also highlights updated supervisory frameworks to address climate change and technological risks, the integration of high-frequency economic indicators, and reinforced consumer protection and entity conduct supervision.

The BDE also maintained its commitment to cash and ensured secure and efficient payment system transactions.

Connecting with citizens and financial health

The report's second chapter details the Banco de España's relationship with citizens and its social commitment, including progress on the Strategic Plan 2030.

This involved modernization efforts and public engagement, with financial education reaching over 36,000 people in 2025.

The third chapter explains the Banco de España's financial information, highlighting its self-funding model and independence from state budgets.

The institution closed 2025 with a profit of €234 million, fully transferred to the Public Treasury.

A campaign will promote the report in the Madrid Metro and branches.
