The Executive Commission of the Banco de España has approved a comprehensive organizational overhaul aligned with its 2030 Strategic Plan.
A newly created Directorate General for Institutional Relations, Transparency and Conduct, led by Alberto Ríos with Inés Calderón as deputy, consolidates transparency initiatives, the Conduct Department, and a new Transparency and Branches Department.
Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Operations, Markets and Payment Systems, headed by Juan Ayuso, now centralizes all payment and cash activities.
These structural changes follow departures as current directors transition to academic and advisory roles.
Open calls for senior leadership
Alongside the structural reorganization, the Executive Commission approved open expressions of interest to fill three vacant senior management positions.
These include the Secretary General to succeed Francisco Javier Priego after 15 years in the role, a deputy position within the General Secretariat following Jaime Herrero's transition to a strategic advisory role, and a new deputy directorate general for data.
Candidates from both inside and outside the institution can apply until September 21, with an international selection panel advising the governor.
