Financial education course enrolls over 100 Albacete students

More than 100 education students in Albacete began a financial education course this week. Bank of Spain Governor José Luis Escrivá visited the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) on October 20, 2026, to review its progress.

Education students take first places

The Bank of Spain and UCLM launched the university financial education program jointly for the current academic year.

Its first edition serves students at the Faculty of Education in Albacete, with more than 100 enrolled.

During his visit to the Albacete campus, Governor José Luis Escrivá met lecturers from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration who teach the course.

The meeting took place at the campus's Ideas Space, where participants exchanged views on the program's development.

Escrivá and the teaching staff discussed the objectives and scope of the training, which students began during the week of his visit.

A university partnership takes shape

The program aims to strengthen university students' financial skills and support better economic decisions throughout their personal and professional lives.

It forms part of a cooperation agreement that UCLM and the Bank of Spain signed in 2026.

According to the press release, the agreement made UCLM the first Spanish university to develop a program of this kind with the central bank.

The visit also focused on the collaboration between the two institutions.

Participation is not an outcome

Enrollment establishes the program's initial reach, not its effectiveness.

The release reports more than 100 participants but provides no assessment of learning outcomes.

Its stated objective remains stronger financial skills and better economic decisions.
