HERMES brings flexible searches to statistical time series

The Bank of Spain (BDE) introduced HERMES on October 20, 2026, to facilitate access to its regularly updated statistical time series. The interface supports searches, interactive charts and data downloads.

From search to chart

HERMES lets users search statistical databases through free text, frequently searched terms or thematic categories.

Filters such as category and frequency help refine results, and users can select and consult several series simultaneously.

Data can be viewed in tables or interactive, accessible charts.

Users can customise charts by choosing the time period and displaying lines, columns or stacked columns.

Each series also carries detailed information: its description, code, frequency, unit of measurement and available time period.

The interface supports both quick queries and more detailed exploration, with information organised by theme and accessible through different search options.

Collections preserve series selections

HERMES stands for Multifunctional Statistics Exploration and Retrieval Tool and is an evolution of BIEST.

It provides access to time series that the BDE publishes and regularly updates.

Users can download data in CSV, Excel and PDF formats.

They can also save selected series in collections for later retrieval, avoiding the need to repeat their searches.

The announcement directs users to the tool and its help section for further information on using the interface.

Access rather than new data

The announcement concerns access to existing statistical series, not a new data release.

HERMES combines search, visualisation and downloads in one interface.

Saved collections allow users to retrieve their selections without repeating searches.
