The 2nd Conference on Applied Macroeconomics, hosted by Banca d'Italia in Rome on October 8-9, 2026, will gather leading academics, central bank researchers, and policymakers.

Organized jointly with the Bank of Canada and the Center for Applied Macroeconomic and Commodity Prices (CAMP) at BI Norwegian Business School, the event aims to foster discussion on innovative research.

Participants will explore key macroeconomic challenges and policy responses in an interconnected global economy.

The conference welcomes submissions across various fields of applied macroeconomics.

This includes topics such as global commodity markets, the energy transition's macroeconomic impact, and the conduct and strategy of monetary policy.

Further areas of interest encompass international spillovers, exchange rate dynamics, fiscal sustainability, and sovereign debt risk, alongside macro-financial stability concerns.

The economic implications of military spending and geopolitical fragmentation are also central themes.

Keynote insights and submission details

Keynote speakers Christiane Baumeister (University of Notre Dame) and Francesco Zanetti (University of Oxford) will present their research.

The conference invites submissions across various applied macroeconomics fields, including global commodity markets, monetary policy, international spillovers, and fiscal sustainability.

The submission deadline for papers or extended abstracts is May 22, 2025.
