2027 resolution fund data required before levy decision

Banca d'Italia requires Italian intermediaries covered by the Single Resolution Fund to submit 2027 contribution data from November 9, 2026 to January 11, 2027. Whether contributions will be calculated and collected remains undecided.

Data first, contributions conditional

Italian financial intermediaries within the scope of the Single Resolution Fund (SRF) must send Banca d'Italia data for the 2027 contribution cycle, following the bank's instructions.

The submission window runs from November 9, 2026 to January 11, 2027.

The Single Resolution Board (SRB) has started data collection so that it can calculate and collect contributions if necessary under the applicable legal framework.

The outcome of its annual assessment of the fund's resources is not yet known.

Preparations therefore follow the same steps used during the transitional period.

Further information on the 2027 cycle is available on the SRB website.

The target governs collection

Since January 1, 2016, intermediaries covered by the Single Resolution Mechanism (SRM) have been required to pay annual ex-ante contributions.

The initial payment plan covered eight years, from 2016 to 2023.

After that period, the SRB checks annually whether available SRF resources have fallen below the target of at least 1 percent of covered deposits at credit institutions within the SRM.

That assessment determines whether contributions need to be calculated and collected.

Preparation is not collection

The notice establishes a data obligation, not a decision to collect 2027 contributions.

The SRB's annual resource assessment remains the basis for that decision.

Intermediaries must nevertheless meet the submission deadline while the outcome remains unknown.
