Digital euro and AI frame fifth financial systems conference

The Central Bank of Ireland's fifth Financial Systems Conference brings together policymakers and industry representatives to discuss innovation and risk. Five sessions cover geopolitics, financial integration, the digital euro, consumer investment and AI.

Geopolitics meets European financial integration

Governor Gabriel Makhlouf opens proceedings at 09:15 and delivers closing remarks at 15:45. European Central Bank (ECB) Vice-President Boris Vujčić gives the 09:30 keynote, followed by a discussion with Makhlouf and Deputy Governor Vasileios Madouros.

Minister of State Frank Feighan speaks at 10:15. At 11:00, Madouros chairs a panel with Petya Koeva Brooks of the International Monetary Fund, Danmarks Nationalbank Governor Signe Krostrup and Ibec's Danny McCoy.

EU Commissioner Maria Luís Albuquerque speaks at 11:45 on stronger, more integrated financial services and European competitiveness.

At 12:00, she joins Deputy Governor Mary-Elizabeth McMunn for a discussion.

Her portfolio covers financial services and the Savings and Investments Union.

Digital money meets consumer choices

Anne Marie McKiernan chairs the 12:30 digital euro panel with Petia Niederländer, Avril O'Hehir, Agustín Reyna and the ECB's Evelien Witlox.

At 14:15, Simon Sloan leads a savings-to-investment panel with Declan Bolger, Colleen Dube, David Malone and Aidan Murphy.

Deputy Governor Colm Kincaid chairs the 15:00 AI session.

Jessica Rusu of the UK Financial Conduct Authority sets the scene; participants include Open AI's Tom Duff Gordon, Accenture's Jacky Fox and Brown Brothers Harriman's Adrian Whelan.

The session covers AI's transformation of financial services and consumers.
