Digital currencies and big tech shape Eurasian roundtable agenda
Digital currencies, stablecoins and big tech featured at the Bank of Russia's third Eurasian Roundtable in Bangkok, Thailand. An October 15, 2026 report places the event during the International Monetary Fund (IMF)–World Bank Group Annual Meetings.
Money meets digital platforms
Participants assessed how central bank digital currencies and stablecoins affect monetary policy.
They also discussed the role of big tech companies and ecosystems in the economic development of countries in the Eurasian region.
The gathering brought together leaders of central banks, financial regulators and finance ministries from the region and partner states.
Representatives of the World Bank and the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) also attended.
Alongside the discussions on digital money and technology companies, the EFSD presented an updated report on the regional labor market, returning to a topic addressed at the second Eurasian Roundtable.
From 2025 to Bangkok
The first Eurasian Roundtable took place in 2025 during the IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings.
The Bank of Russia said these gatherings receive support from representatives of financial regulators, while both the agenda and participation continue to expand.
The third meeting combined discussion of digital finance and technology ecosystems with the EFSD's labor-market update.
That report continued the labor-market discussion from the second roundtable.
Discussion rather than decisions
The report records a regional policy discussion, not a joint policy decision.
It identifies digital money, technology ecosystems and labor markets as subjects of exchange.
It gives no policy commitments or timetable for follow-up measures.
