Three Directors General appointed to ECB leadership
The European Central Bank's Executive Board has appointed Roland Straub, Christophe Kamps, and Petra Senkovic as new Directors General. They will assume leadership roles in Monetary Policy, International and European Relations, and Legal Services, with effective dates in July and November 2026.

The European Central Bank's Executive Board has appointed Roland Straub as Director General Monetary Policy, Christophe Kamps as Director General International and European Relations, and Petra Senkovic as Director General Legal Services.
ECB President Christine Lagarde emphasized the appointees' "decades of invaluable experience" and their role in delivering the ECB's mandate through "strong analysis, meticulous preparation and flawless implementation.
" Mr. Straub will oversee monetary policy preparation, Mr. Kamps will manage international and European policy positions, and Ms. Senkovic will lead legal matters, ensuring the legal soundness of ECB actions.
Their appointments take effect between July and November 2026.
Deep institutional expertise
Roland Straub, currently Deputy Director General Market Operations, joined the ECB in 2006 and previously served as Counsellor to Presidents Lagarde and Draghi.
Christophe Kamps, Acting Director General Monetary Policy since 2005, co-led the ECB's Strategy Assessment in 2025.
Petra Senkovic, Director General Secretariat, previously headed the Secretariat to the Supervisory Board and served as Deputy Director General Legal Services.
All three bring extensive experience from various senior roles within the ECB and other international institutions, ensuring continuity and a deep understanding of the central bank's operations.
