InterestMe Financial Planning enters administration under Kroll

InterestMe Financial Planning Limited and its appointed representative InterestMe Advisers Limited entered administration on September 24, 2026. Robert Goodhew and Geoff Bouchier of Kroll Advisory Limited have been appointed as joint administrators.

Custody assets remain with third party

The FCA confirmed that InterestMe Financial Planning Limited (IMFP) and InterestMe Advisers Limited (IMA) ceased standard operations following their insolvency on September 24, 2026.

Prior to entering administration, IMFP had agreed on July 24, 2026, to a voluntary requirement restricting its regulated activities, which included financial planning and advisory services for pensions and mortgages.

The FCA clarified that IMFP does not hold client money or custody assets directly.

Instead, customer holdings remain secure with an external regulated custodian under statutory protection rules.

The joint administrators from Kroll Advisory Limited are now managing the companies' affairs.

Compensation route passes to FSCS

Because the failed firms are insolvent, they lack sufficient funds to settle outstanding compensation claims in full.

Customers with unresolved complaints, including cases pending before the Financial Ombudsman Service, are being directed to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).

The FCA advised clients against engaging fee-charging claims management companies, noting third-party involvement provides no advantage and reduces net recoveries.

Customers must also stay alert to potential scams mimicking administrators.

A familiar advisory collapse

The failure exposes persistent weaknesses in appointed representative oversight among retail advisers.

Segregated client custody prevents catastrophic capital loss, but the compensation burden shifts entirely to the statutory safety net.

The swift progression from voluntary restrictions to insolvency exposes supervisory lag.
