RBI Citizen's Charter: 99.9% applications processed on time
The Reserve Bank of India released the status of applications received under its Citizen's Charter for June 2026. The central bank processed 99.9 percent of applications within the stipulated timelines.
High efficiency in application processing
The Reserve Bank of India reported a high level of efficiency in processing applications under its Citizen's Charter during June 2026.
Out of a total of 21,190 applications handled (2,554 pending from previous month, 19,177 received, less 541 referred back), 18,577 were processed.
A significant 99.9 percent (18,563) of these were completed within the defined timelines, with only 14 applications processed beyond the stipulated period.
At the end of June, 2,613 applications remained pending, with 2,595 still within their timelines and 18 awaiting inputs from external agencies or under process.
Charter expands, diverse functions covered
The report also provided a function-wise breakdown of application processing.
Key areas like Banker to Banks and Governments saw 8,647 applications processed, all within timeline.
Currency Management handled 8,021 applications, with 6 processed beyond timeline and 821 pending.
Foreign Exchange Management processed 1,304 applications, with 7 beyond timeline and 1,039 pending.
Regulation and Supervision processed 677 applications, with 704 pending.
Furthermore, the RBI recently reviewed its Citizen's Charter, adding fourteen new services and modifying timelines for four others, bringing the total number of services under the Charter to 213.
Commitment to public service
The report showcases the RBI's strong operational efficiency in public service delivery, with nearly all applications processed on time.
While minimal, the few delayed cases indicate specific areas for targeted improvement in responsiveness.
The expanded Citizen's Charter reflects a proactive commitment to transparency and meeting evolving public needs.
