Taxonomy advice drops fees and trading book disclosure KPIs

The European Banking Authority (EBA) recommends removing fees and commissions and trading book KPIs from Taxonomy disclosures. Its advice to the European Commission also simplifies group reporting and Green Asset Ratio templates.

Five routes to simpler reporting

The EBA recommends five changes to Taxonomy disclosures under Article 8 of the Taxonomy Regulation.

It proposes removing the Fees and Commissions KPI and the Trading Book KPI, while simplifying investment firms' other services KPI, including capital market services.

Grandfathering provisions would match the EU Green Bond Regulation, limited to bonds issued under that regulation.

Operational expenditure KPIs disclosed by non-financial undertakings would not enter financial undertakings' KPI calculations.

Groups would use the parent undertaking's KPIs, supplemented where relevant by KPIs for material secondary activities under defined conditions, without further aggregation.

The proposals aim to reduce complexity and improve the usability of disclosures.

Templates face targeted revision

The Commission requested advice in March 2026 for its review of the Disclosures Delegated Act and simplification under the Omnibus Delegated Act.

The EBA recommends harmonising asset management and investment firm templates and clarifying banks' Green Asset Ratio templates.

It incorporated public consultation feedback and worked with the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA).

Its Task Force on Efficiency also informs the broader simplification effort.

Advice, not enacted relief

The proposals are technical advice, not adopted disclosure changes.

Article 16a(4) of Regulation (EU) No 1093/2010 authorises the EBA to advise the Commission within its competence.

The stated objective remains less complexity alongside meaningful sustainability disclosures.
