Thomas Jorgensen appointed Director General for Specialized Institutions

Thomas Broeng Jorgensen has been appointed Director General for Specialised Institutions and Less Significant Institutions by the European Central Bank. He will assume his new responsibilities on March 1, 2026.

New leadership for specialized supervision

Thomas Broeng Jorgensen will assume direct responsibility for supervising banks with specialised business models.

Additionally, he will oversee the supervision of less significant banks conducted by national authorities.

His appointment is effective March 1, 2026, succeeding Patrick Amis, who recently moved to Director General Horizontal Line Supervision.

A decade of supervisory experience

Mr. Jorgensen joined the ECB in 2014 at the start of European banking supervision.

Since 2021, he has been Deputy Director General for systemic and international banks.

His career also includes senior roles at the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority and Danish ministries.

His appointment fits the ECB's three-directorate general structure for bank-specific supervision.
